Clinton Fernandes was consulting historian to the film Balibo. In this Underground Talk, he will expand upon the issues raised in the film, including the role of the Australian government, the solidarity movement that developed here - and the ongoing struggle for justice in East Timor today.

Clinton Fernandes is Senior Lecturer in Politics at the Australian Defence Force Academy. He is the author of Reluctant Saviour: Australia, Indonesia and the independence of East Timor (Scribe, 2004) and Reluctant Indonesians: Australia, Indonesia and the future of West Papua (Scribe, 2006).
