Our secondhand stock

Entirely comprised of donations from our members and supporters, the secondhand stock is where you’ll unearth the forgotten treasures which inspired and entertained previous generations of activists. The books’ origins are reflected in a particularly strong collection of Australian literature, history and politics – but anyone with a love of reading will find something to enjoy.

Our secondhand stock is not databased, so pop into the shop or email us an inquiry and we’ll do our best to help you out.

Big Red Book Fair

On the second last weekend of June, we transform Trades Hall into a book lover’s paradise – and it’s not just the hard-to-find political titles which will have you squealing in delight. From highbrow literature to airport page-turners, from gardening and travel to kid’s books and much, much more… if it’s ever gathered dust on someone’s bookcase we can pretty much guarantee it will turn up in the Big Red Book Fair.

This year’s Big Red Book Fair will take place 11am to 5pm Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June.

You don’t have to wait for the Big Red Book Fair to offload your unwanted books – we are now accepting donations all year round. No matter how great or terrible you think the books are, we’ll be more than happy to take them off your hands.
